Palatine Celtic Soccer
Mens Over 30 Tri-County League - Central Division -- Summer 2002 : Week 4

Week 4 Notes:

We asked for competition and finally got it, played a very good Wauconda team and played them to a 4-4 draw.

We started the game with 10 players, I guess the 15 players last week was a fluke, they open the scoring before we got a chance to get organized, again we had a lot of chances but not able to penetrate their defense, their goalie also made some nice saves, Tovar finally broke thru and scored a goal to tie it up 1-1, it was not long before they went up 2-1, but Jack came thru for us to tie the score before half.

The second half was a different story again, our defense went to sleep and they scored 2 early goals, but the nice thing about our team is that we never lost confidence, and came back to tie it up with goals by Brian and Victor, and many other opportunities including 3 by Pedro/Cesar/Israel (one each?), the nicest was the bicycle kick by Tovar, the ref told me that he did not call a hand ball because the guy was trying to protect himself, funny thing is that the hands were up.

The score ended 4-4, but it was a nice clean game against a very good team, I believe our next opponent is just as good.

Turnout at Nellie's was much better this time and just because we do not have a game Friday does not mean that we can't go back to visit Stephanie.

We need to thank Nestor for coming thru with our sponsor (Valet Parking Services Inc.), if we are lucky, we may have our new uniforms by the time we play our next game.

No game the next 2 Fridays.

Next game is Friday (May 31) is at 6:30 P.M. (Cardinal Field in Palatine) against the ATS Pars.
