Palatine Celtic Soccer
Mens Over 30 Tri-County League - Central Division -- Summer 2002 : Week 1

Week 1 Notes:

Opening night did not look so good for the Celtic at game time, we started the game with 7 players (which included new player "PEDRO") but manage to hold the Lake Zurich Aces the defending league champions with great goal keeping by Carlo, and keeping everyone back, Lake Zurich scored a cheap goal of a bad cross that the wind took and put in the upper corner, Tommy tied the game a minute later with some nice passes coming all the way from the back, that is how the half ended, by that time we had 11 players.

We took over the midfield the 2nd half and had a lot of scoring opportunities until Tovar got away from the defense and scored a goal off his knee, he stayed with the play and scored of the goalie's attempt to clear.  The professor (Sullejman) scored a beautiful goal over the goalie's head off a perfect pass by Brian.

Tovar got pass the defense, and Jeff Moore (Lake Zurich defender)  was forced to use his hand in the box, Sullejman scored the PK for a 4-1 win.

What did not look so good at the beginning turned out to be great start to the season, but it will be nice to get a full team in the field at kickoff.

The referee told me that they have all been warned about us, we are going into the league with a bad reputation, lets show them otherwise.

Game next week is at 6:00 P.M. same place (Knigge Field) against the Lake Zurich Deuces.
