2002 PLAYOFFS

6:00 PM 1st place CELTICS vs. 4th place GREEN MACHINE

The Celtics should be the favorites in this match, but if the Machine
comes out in full force and Claudio is in the Groove, look out. The
Celtics Johnny Tovar must be stopped. The keepers Carlo (Celtics) and
Ravelli (Machine) could be the difference.

6:45PM 2nd place LIONS vs. 3rd place KOZAKS

The Lions won 2 close regular season games and have Byskosh,
Salvador and Roni all in the top 10 scorers, But Jerry and Ziggy can
find the back of the net for the Kozaks as well. Hint to Lions: Bo
Nedilsky is on the Kozak roster and Yaro may play in goal.

GOLDEN BOOT-JOHNNY TOVAR, FIRST CELTIC TO EVER WIN THE BOOT

A huge game by the Celtic’s Johnny Tovar, scoring 7 goals, gives him the honor of the “2002 Golden Boot”. Peter Byskosh , of the Lions held on for 2nd place and a big game for Green Machine’s Claudio, also scoring 7 goals pushed him all the way to 3rd. Congrats to all.

JULY 18 RESULTS

 CELTICS 9  KOZAKS  2

The Kozaks were missing a few key players due to injury and ran into a man on a mission. Johnny Tovar saw the “Golden Boot” in his sights and with the help of his teammates scored 7 times and the Celtics destroyed the Kozaks 9-2.

GREEN MACHINE  8 DYNAMO 1

Green Machine Manager, Rusty, knew that the Wings had an outside chance to steal away the last playoff spot from him , so he made sure to bring his entire lineup. Claudio had a career night, scoring 7, and practically insuring a playoff spot.

WINGS 5 LIONS 3

Peter Byskosh of the Lions needed 6 points for the “Golden Boot” but came up 2 short. Roman Kuropas made his first appearance for the Wings in a game that was played essentially for pride. He scored twice. Oleg Glywka added two, Tomba had a goal and an assist and Joe Owerko had 3 assists to help The Wings detfeat the 2nd place Lions. The Wings Just missed out on the playoffs. One can only speculate how they would have fared if Kuropas had been around all season.
