In one of the best championship games you will ever see, the Lions twice took one goal leads. A late penalty kick tied the game for the Celtics and sent the game into overtime. The Celtics scored the “Golden Goal’ and took the title for the second year in a row, third out of the last four years. This could be our first Dynasty.

THANK YOU REFEREE, IHOR BOKYJ

The 7v7 league thanks Ihor Bokyj for refereeing EVERY game of the 2002 season. This is the first time that we have not had issues in getting quality refereeing. We are honored to have a man in the middle who had served time refereeing in the Ukrainian Premier League. We look forward to seeing him for many years to come.

STEAK NIGHT-A BIG SUCCESS

Over 70 players and guests participated in the 2002 Steak Night. It’s great to see so many people come out and support the tournament. We would also like to thank Palatine CYM for providing us with the perfect environment for the tournament, as well as, volunteers to prepare the great food.

SPECIAL THANKS

Thanks go out to tournament organizers Mario Kolody and Joe Owerko. The 2001 season went off without problems. Sometimes the “behind the scenes” stuff goes unnoticed. On a personal note, I look forward to this league every year, and as always I had a blast. I enjoy spending time playing soccer all summer with and against my friends. I will see most of you at the Wings tournament at Baraboo and throughout the Fall, Winter and Spring seasons. And then next summer: LOOK OUT FOR THE KOZAKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
